Anyway, I really do hope they do better in 2010.

i heard the reason that it was changed, and this could just be korean propaganda, was that japan wanted to come FIRST in alphabetical order, so they changed the name of the country from Corea to Korea…
hmmm?

The problem with 2006 is that the team’s preparation was completely last minute. They had a coach that didn’t work out and then at the last minute he was replaced by Advocaat. So the team only had 9 months to prepare under the new coach. By then, most of the pre-world cup qualifying rounds had been played and there isn’t much experimentation for the coach and the team.
As for 2010, they probably will not do as well as it will be a new generation that will be playing. Most current players would be slow if they had not retire and the younger players will lack the experience.
I think the “C” should be changed from “Corea” to “Chosun”. At this point in time, I think the North Koreans stand a better chance at 2010. This is given that the 2006 world cup team members were all under 23 years of age except for 2. So at 2010, the North Korean team should be primed to carry on the banner of glorifying Korean soccer.
The question is will South Koreans support the North Korean team if the North Korean team qualifies for the world cup and not South Korea?

Well, guess what? I had the chance of viewing the Korean-Swiss game a 2nd time!
The 2nd time, I noticed that the Korean team made very big tactical mistakes in its strategy.
I can go on a lengthy piece being critical of the coach, Advocatt as well as specific players in the Korean team. Should I do that?
Maybe later. I hate to cause depression of guilt at a personal level to the players just in case they are reading this as well. But I urge Korean fans to watch the match again and this time, be analytic, jot down numbers or make mental notes as you watch. There were definitely several players who screwed it up big time for the rest of the team consistently throughout the entire game.

Is it bad of me to say that I didn’t feel *that* bad for the fans? I *REALLY* felt bad for the players. They had the hopes and expectations of a whole nation riding on their shoulders. That’s tough…
