The last few days in Phuket Lack of blogging
Sep 05

These are pictures from the first day on Koh Phi Phi, or better known as where “The Beach” was filmed. When the ferry from Phuket manuevered into a small bay with a small beach, I wondered what we were doing there. After arriving on Phi Phi, someone told me that was “Maya Bay”, the beach Leonardo DiCaprio made famous. It looked a lot smaller than it did in the movie. Unfortunately, I didn’t include Maya Bay in this set of pictures. Next time…

The first day on Phi Phi was just spent on the beach and in the water. The water was calm and clear, the sun was out, and there were beers to be had (by others).

wasn’t a lot of it washed away in the tsunami?

There was a lot of damage to the area in the middle of the island, where there is a strip of land and two beaches on both sides. Fortunately, the area that we stayed at (Long Beach) had no damage by the tsunami.

Almost two years later, there’s still a lot of construction and work to be done.

I heard Leonardo is in The Departed. I haven\’t heard the reviews on the movie yet though. Anybody know how it was? It has quite the cast.

I saw it last week. It was pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s mind-blowing, as the media seems to think, just because Martin Scorsese made it. Definitely worth a watch - lots of good acting.
