Movies

I’ve NEVER seen any of the Rocky movies, until last night. I only things I knew about the Rocky franchise were: Adrian, the Eye of the Tiger song, his training scenes, and that Rocky always overcomes difficult odds to win. Most critics thought it was an okay movie, but honestly… I thought the movie sucked. Well, not completely sucked, just a good deal of it sucked. It left me thinking, “What was the point of that movie? It must have been for the paycheck.”

The storyline that lead up to his training was pretty long, tedious, and completely unnecessary. Who cares whether he bonds with son of the new lady in his life? Bah! That kid didn’t even play a significant role in the rest of the movie after the first half. I hardly felt anything for the characters. Maybe I’m heartless. Oh well. Even though this movie wasn’t the best, I’d DEFINITELY would like to see the first Rocky, though. I’m sure the other Rocky movies were much better than this one.

Oh, you should definitely watch the first Rocky. The sequels are okay, but the first is one of my favorite movies. Keep in mind that I have a soft spot for sports films, and forgive easily.

Oh no! Rocky Balboa makes little sense if you haven’t seen Rocky I. I bet when you see Rocky I, Rocky Balboa will go up in your estimation.

By the way, parts 4 and 5 are worth skipping, unless you totally fall in love with the series after seeing parts 1 and 2.

I’ve grown up with the Rocky movies all my life. I love the characters as if they were family. Thats what makes the difference when seeing this movie. Its like watching a family home movie that brings you to tears, and then trying to show the same home movie to a stranger. It would be boring to them, because they didn’t know the back story of all the good times and bad times the family went through.

I was moved to tears when I watched Rocky Balboa. My mother just passed away 4 weeks earlier. I could totally relate to the emotions in this film. And to top it off, I watched the characters my whole life. From when they were young. No other film has done that. Documented a characters whole life in real time, and all the changes that life brings with age.

I don’t think your “heartless”. Even if you watch all of the movies, it still wont have the same impact as it did on someone who has grown up with the characters.

I DEFINITELY have to watch the first Rocky, after this comment. The Rocky franchise is 30 years old, so I can understand how much more it means to someone who’s been there since the beginning.
