Korea, Seoul, This is life

This morning, Ras, Brad, and I got up at 7:30 am to watch the Super Bowl! I’m not a big footbal fan. Actually, I can honestly say I’m not a football fan at all. I had to ask Ras last night what were the teams playing in this morning’s game. Since kickoff was 6:25 pm on the East Coast, it was being televised live in Seoul at 8:25 am. I’m not sure if it was playing on TV in Seoul, but the three of us went to watch it with other Americans at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) bar. The best thing about watching the game, was the free breakfast buffet. We had biscuits and gravy, “real” bacon, eggs, sausage, and the fixin’s for breakfast burritos. Plus, there were free bloody mary’s. By 8:30 am, I was eating breakfast, washing it down with a bloody mary, and watchin’ us some football.

To tell you the truth, it was a pretty exciting first half.  The only thing we all missed were the Super Bowl commercials.  We were getting a live feed courtesy of the NFL, but that didn’t come with commercials.  Instead, we had to sit through propaganda commercials from AFN.  Still, I had a pretty good time this morning.

As a U.S.Army man in Seoul,Korea in 1953, was located about 6 blocks south of the capitol in a fire and police station (Korean & US Army). Where Sygman Rhee’s chauffer used to bring his 1950 dark blue Mercury over for a car wash. Do you know what is located in this area at this time? I absolutely enjoy your blog.
