I had a super relaxing weekend. This was the first time in the last two months that I did absolutely NOTHING in regards to work on a weekend. I went up to Seoul on Saturday and met Ras and Mat at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Costco. (Directions: Subway Line 2 or 5. Exit 3, and take a hard left. Take your first right and walk for 6-7 minutes, passing a hospital and driving range on your left.) We had lunch and did a little shopping. I didn’t really need to buy anything, but just picked up a couple bottles of wine for Mat’s party. One of the bottles was a Muscat, which I know is a really sweet white wine, which most people wouldn’t like. I DO think it’s a tad sweet, but love the effervescence of it. The bubbles make me feel special.
While Mat cleaned his apartment and Ras went to meet Brad at 3 Alley, I took a little journey to find my scrapbooking store – photonoli.com. Itaewon tourist information called Photo Noli’s customer service for me and said the COEX location would have the biggest selection. The products were being sold at a Korean chain – Barunson. 40 minutes later, I arrived at Barunson to find not ONE scrapbooking supply for sale there. Not a photo corner rounder, paper trimmer, card stock, or stamp in sight. There were plenty of stationary supplies to keep me occupied, but was disappointed to realize that if I want any of that stuff, I’d have to make an international order from a company like 2 Peas in a Bucket.
When I finally got back to Itaewon, I met Ras and Reardon at 3 Alley to go to Mat’s. Mat’s apartment is somewhat near the Wolfhound in Itaewon, and he’s been living there less than a month. The people he was inviting over were mostly his co-workers from Wall Street Institute. Last year, the company took its employees on a 3 day vacation to Thailand. This year, there have been rumors they’re going to Hawaii! Now that’s a generous company.
