I don’t like to wear clothes that SHOUT what brand I’m wearing.  My camera strap was a little loud for me.  Sure, I’m happy I have a Canon, but I don’t need to advertise for them.

I bought this tape from the fabric store for under $3 and I used about 1/3 of it for this project.  The yard of ribbon was $3/yard.  I used about 3/4 of it.  The tape works just like double-sided tape.  Very easy.

The flash made the colors washed out, but the final product was pretty cool.  If I find a different ribbon in the future, it can be easily replaced using the same process.  Total crafty time = 5 minutes.

I was requested by Ras to blog about this. In his words, “the worst rap song, video, lyrics ever! I can’t stop watching it.” EVER? You be the judge. I will say this though, I love the crying - it’s so bad, it’s good. Plus, who is the invisible friend he raps to, as he looks to our left? I could only stand to watch half of this:

He doesn’t write me often, since I usually see him anyway, but when he does, it’s pretty funny.  Names have been erased for their protection but I’m sure you can figure out who it is.

Jack*sses
Everywhere jack*sses.
Thanks for reminding me of your jack*ss boyfriend’s
day of emergent jack*ssedness.  He had neglected to
remind me and ******* as we played travel scrabble at
the pool and sat around for three hours.  Also
neglected a little buildup for the event in the week or so before.
Let us find out by web-surfing, which made us feel like jack*sses.
Thanks for your reminder,
Hope sh*t is going well enough for you.

Well, the weekend’s coming up.  You can buy him a drink then.

…will be the 4th of July, America’s Independence Day.  Independence from the imperialist oppressor nation of England, who tried to make us spell color with a “u”.  Alas, Ben Franklin, historically known for championing spelling reform, helped Americans to be the slackers they are today.  Oh yeah, he also flew a kite, or something like that.  Back to what I was saying…  It’s too bad that this year, the holiday falls right in the middle of the week.  Still, you’ve got to make the most of a day off.  This year, the Waterfront Blues Festival kicks off on the 4th in downtown Portland, with fireworks at 10:05 pm.  I’m not a big fan of the blues, but I’m a big fan of festivals, so I’m hoping to drop by and check it out.  It’ll also be interesting to see what kind of nighttime firework shots I can get.  I’m not good at nighttime photography - too shaky.  Those years of combat in ‘Nam really did a number on me.  Plus, I don’t have a tripod, so we’ll see what happens.

For those that are curious, here are some of the headliners.  The only name I recognize is the first one.

The Neville Brothers * Koko Taylor * Joan Armatrading * The Blind Boys of Alabama * Pinetop Perkins * Marcia Ball* James Cotton Band with special guest Hubert Sumlin * Mavis Staples * The Dirty Dozen Brass Band * Voice of the Wetlands Allstars (Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, Johnny Sansone) * Eric Burdon and the Animals * Savoy Brown * Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums * JJ Grey and Mofro * Watermelon Slim … Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks … and much more!

Since its modest beginnings in 1988, the award-winning festival has grown to be the largest blues festival west of the Mississippi, annually attracting more than 120,000 blues fans from throughout the world.

As more information emerges, I continue to be surprised.  Go here to read the press release by the WWE.  There are some pretty interesting details.  I heard on the news today that bibles were placed by his wife and son’s bodies.  It’s very sad.
