My mom and I woke up early this morning and left our house around 8:15 am for the hour and a half drive to Hood River (east of Portland). We were on our way to Alice’s Orchard to pick some cherries. I had been on the internet for the last week, checking the status of their cherries. Due to frost and wet pollination this year, the cherry crop has been slim. Opening day was today at 10 am, and I wanted to make sure we were there early.
We arrived just after 10 am to find four other cars in the parking lot. Since this year’s crop was so scarce, there was a limit of 1 bucket of Bing cherries per person, and 1 bucket per car for the Rainiers (yellowish cherries). The Bings were $1.25 per pound, while the Rainiers were $2.25 per pound.

The trees were all relatively small. It’s perfect for kids or seniors to pick. I’ve gone cherry picking before, but I had to use a ladder then. This was really easy and fun to pick.

This was the BIGGEST bunch of cherries I saw. If you can believe it, I only picked a couple from this bunch. There were bigger ones nearby.

The next time someone in Korea goes to a store and sees cherries, let me know how much they are.

Can you spot Mt. Hood in the background?

This is one of the views from the orchard.

The building is where they weighed the cherries. There was also a picnic area for the customers.
By the time we left at 11:30 am, there were at least 30 cars in the parking lots, they were out of buckets, and all the Rainiers were all gone. I think I picked the last good bucket.
I ate SO many cherries today that I had a stomachache by the time I got home. I love the fresh fruit this time of year.

At Costco, 2 lbs. of premium Rainier cost 13,990 won and 3 lbs. of premium Red cost 15,990 won.
I can’t believe you loved the “Transformers.” While the XF were awesome. The story felt contrived. How did they keep Megatron(keeping him frozen), while digging him up and moving him from the artic circle to the Hoover Dam with 1930s technology. How did they keep that a secret from the people it would take to accomplish a feat like this. That unknown Sector Seven was a joke. They make Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane and Deputy Enos look competent in comparison. Recruiting for the CIA/NSA must be at an all-time low. Where were the Chinese and Russian hackers (probably the best in the world)? The autobots acting inanely at the Witwicky house had me almost walking out on the moive.

Hahaha! Honestly, there were definitely flaws:
- as you said, the logistics of moving Megatron
- Bumblebee as a Camero that can change the way he looks simply by scanning other cars
- too much screen time for the humans. There should have been more character development with the robots
- slow motion and overly dramatic shots
- falling on ethnic stereotypes (the call center)
- mini Deceptacon (Soundwave?)
- unbelievable story lines (taking the All Spark into the city where there are tons of people; S7; and lines like, “There’s only one person in the world that can break this code.”)
- the product placements of Nokia, eBay, GM, Panasonic, etc.
Even with all its faults, I still liked the movie because of the nostalgia factor - like Megatron telling Starscream “You have failed me again Starscream!” Anyone who watched the show as a kid would remember their bickering. Also, It was worth it to see Optimus Prime in action again.
At least it wasn’t a horrible cartoon remake like “Masters of the Universe.”

Hey!! Your blog is awesome! Man, you are so lucky to be eating cherries. When I return home, I’ll be stuffing my face full. I’ve never been cherry picking before!
Right now in Seoul, on the street you can buy about 1-2 cups of cherries for like 5-6000w!
