Well, not really, but it’s the closest I’ll probably get to having a maid anytime soon. A couple weeks ago, when we left Jenay’s, the cleaning lady she hired was just arriving as we were leaving. It seemed so decadent, but the idea of having someone clean your apartment for such a cheap rate (when compared to the States) lingered. Then we talked with co-workers who’ve also hired a cleaning lady, and got a referral from one of them.
She came today at 10 am and cleaned for 3 hours. She made the beds, vacuumed, washed dishes, washed and hung up laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, dusted, and cleaned the balconies on her hands and knees! All this for 10,000 won an hour. We’ve arranged to have her come every other week for 3 hours.
It’s not that I can’t do the cleaning myself, but it’s nice to just relax and enjoy more of life. I can afford it, so why not?
