Thanksgiving Dinner

Last night we had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. It was sort of a last minute idea when plans to go to Brad’s this weekend for turkey fell through.

— Hey, why don’t we just buy a turkey ourselves?

Because it’ll probably just be the two of us.

— So? Leftover turkey is always good.

You’re right. Let’s go buy one tomorrow and see if anyone wants to come over.

As it was a last minute decision, other people were already busy. Reardon had made other plans, Brad was getting his knee drained, Bart was at a conference somewhere, Greg also had a last minute party for his daughter, Thomas was helping his ex-girlfriend move, and so on and so on. Maybe it was a good thing tons of people didn’t come because we wouldn’t have had as many opportunities to (as Tone Loc said) nearly split our pants.

Mat came down from Seoul, helped us cook, ate, and spent the night. Before Nathan and Jenay came over, Mat asked if it would be rude to put on his “eating clothes”. (Haha) The meal was DEE-LISH-US! It was a very simple affair – turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and chocolate cake with coconut and pecan frosting. Salad was on the menu too, but we nixed it, less we get too full and not have enough room for more turkey. We were afraid the turkey would turn out dry, but that wasn’t the case. It turned out perfect and juicy.

Gravy and mashed potatoes:

I was so excited after the turkey was carved, I completely forgot to take pictures of anything else! That’s why there are not pictures of anyone else, the chocolate cake, or the rest of the night. I DID remember to take this one picture though. It’s basically what we did all night between eating – laying around, drinking, and watching BBC Planet Earth.

Last, but not least, here’s a short 19 second video of Ras checking on the turkey after an hour of cooking. Since you can’t smell the deliciousness of the turkey, you can at least hear the sizzling goodness of it.

    Check here: http://wiki.galbijim.com/Turkey_dinners#Places_to_buy_turkeys
When I checked last year, turkeys were around $60 at Hannam Market, $20 more than Costco. I actually picked up another turkey 3 days ago and will have another turkey dinner sometime in January… just because!
