It turns out we WILL have to move after all. The contract with the current owner ends March 22, and we’ll be in our new place by then. This afternoon, I received keys to my new apartment and I went to check it out with Ras.
One word: dumpy. It’s not a dump per se, just dumpy, and old.
It’s slightly smaller than the place I have now, but it’s not the size that bothers me. The apartment complex is quite older than the one I’m at now. Therefore, the layout and design are outdated, which makes the apartment look smaller than it really is. There’s no built-in shoe rack, no medicine cabinet in the bathroom, narrow balconies, no proper place for the fridge, no kimchi fridge (for our drinks), and overall lack of storage space. Plus, there’s only one bathroom, instead of two. I don’t want to sound like a big whiner, since everything will work out in the end, but I’m disappointed to be moving.
For the next week, the university will hopefully be replacing the wallpaper and flooring since you can tell the previous family had kids (Disney wallpaper and crayon markings on the wall.) After that, I should be in the new place in a week or two. I’ll post pictures then.
