And Canadian and I teach English too. However it is wrong to judge her based on American hip hop norms. She is Korean, She sings pop music and though her music is influenced by western pop, it is equally influenced by Japanese pop and Chinese pop. The video is very strange to the western eye, but many of my Korean students seem to love it...and isn't that audience the ones who will buy most of her records! I agree it seems weird…I am Irish.
