Yesterday was a relatively sunny day, so you can imagine my surpise when I woke up this morning, pulled up the blinds, and saw a light dusting of snow. Just the other day, people were saying that cherry blossoms were starting to bloom in Portland.

Here I was, counting the days until spring arrived. Above is the view from my bedroom. Below is the view from the top of my car.

I had to go out this morning and bring in the garbage and recycling containers. I don’t know what it’s like in other parts of the U.S., but I’m happy to see that recycling roll-carts here are huge (the beige one). It’s about four feet tall with a 60 gallon capacity. So, I could easily fit inside it, if… you know, that’s the kind of thing I liked doing. Unlike recycling from ten years ago, we don’t need to separate things anymore. With the exception of glass, which goes in its own container, everything else can go in there. Paper, cardboard, plastic, or metal can be dumped in unsorted with labels attached. Very easy.

It’s a 50mm f/1.4. I upgraded from the 50mm f/1.8 when I bought a 5D before I left Korea. It’s second hand but in immaculate condition. I think many were trading them in to get the newest and shiniest - 5D Mark II. It’s my gain because I went to Namdaemun looking to get the 50D, but the used 5D was cheaper and it’s full frame.

we have considerably more than that on the way here in the northeast. Looking at 15 inches by tomorrow night. Hopefully it’s the last storm of the season.
