Tomorrow I head up to Seoul and meet up with Allison, a friend I met through Kate. It’s her second time in Korea, and she’s only been back a month so far. I’m excited to spend some time in a bustling city, hang out with a girl, and maybe go dancing. I’m sure I’ll find time to send some cell phone pictures to my blog.

Last night, I was going through some pictures from the Singapore Botanical Gardens. I really like plants and flowers, and took a LOT of pictures. I would have taken more if my 1 GB memory card and two batteries hadn’t been depleted. The highlight of the botanical gardens, was the National Orchid Garden. It houses over 1000 orchid species and 2000 hybrids, which makes it the largest orchid collection in the world. There was even an orchid hybrid named after the prime minister of Laos, who visited the gardens in 2001. I took many photos, not only for myself, but for my parents. The love orchids, and have over 50 plants in the house. They don’t even eat at the dining room table, because it’s covered with orchid.

Later, I’m going to make a photo album of all the plants, but for now, I just made a scrapbooking layout.

Today I woke up early and met up with other teachers at the main gate of our university at 7:00 am to go to Jiri-san (Mt. Jiri).

Mt. Jirisan National Park, named as Korea’s first national park in 1967, is a majestic mountain range with Cheonwangbong the highest peak and numerous others more than 1,000 meters high. A view of the majestic waves created by these mountain ridges is an experience not to be missed. Mt. Jirisan is home to scenic valleys and numerous historical and tourist sites. It is often considered one of the three most important mountains in South Korea, with Hallasan and Seoraksan being the other two.

In addition to having a nice cocktail tonight, I also finished my 2nd ever digital scrapbooking page. This was all made with Photoshop CS. This is one of my major hobbies, in addition to photography and bookbinding. I’m not very good at it yet, since there’s such a steep learning curve with Photoshop. In the future, you’ll see better pages.
