We’re leaving soon to go downtown and watch a couple soccer games. The Korean vs. Switzerland game is at 4am. I hope I can last for that.

I wasn’t expecting much out of yesterday, but luckily the sun broke through, making it a mandatory beach day. Ras, Melvin, and I arrived at Gyeongpo Beach around 11:30 am with blankets and a cooler in hand. Melvin was telling us that last week, the Family Mart lady was asking where his friends were. We’ve come out to Gyeongpo Beach, in front of Family Mart, for the last four summers.

1. I’m making a soju + Strawberry Welch concoction, 2. Enjoying 40s, 3. Nipply out there, 4. Raswan and Melvin swimming
The boys got a little too drunk from the 40s, with Melvin passing out in the sand. We were all "sun kissed" by the time we left at 6:30 pm.

After seven hours of traveling, Ras and I arrived in Kangneung last night. We both had our bags, and a present for Melvin.
12 bottles of Old English
The three of us stuffed ourselves with tuna and had some time to kill before the Mexico/Portugal game. Ras wanted to go play pool, while Melvin and I wanted to make sticker pictures. You know those booths in Japan, where you go in and wear funny costumes, get your pictures taken, then have them made into stickers? Melvin flipped a coin and we won - stickers fun, here we come!
Ras squeezed in a Snow White dress with a viking hat. Melvin worked a sequined silver jacket with Shrek horns. I sported a Sailor Moon dress with a pirate hat and purple wig. The photo session turned out to be a lot more fun than any of us expected. Afterward, we got to basically "Photoshop" our pictures. We were able to add backgrounds, cutesy border, flower stamps, write, and draw on our pictures. I decorated the first 2 pictures below, while Melvin decorated the last two. We paid for the highest quality pictures, which was 5000 won (about $5). As you can see, the pictures were really bright and clear. It was lots of fun. I’d definitely recommend it!

Here are more pictures from last weekend in Kangneung. First, we went to one of my other favorite restaurants in town, Gaya. This is where Melvin had his first bottle of "Olde English". The week before, Raswan and I had gotten on the Kunsan Air Base and picked up two bottles for $2 each.
Melvin has his first 40 (17 second video)
After dinner, we headed to "Bumpin", Mr. Lee’s bar. The only people still around from the time we were there in 2002 were Michael, Carlos, and Dominique (who was too good to slum it with us that night).
